Strategic Licensing with value-added CRM enhancements

At Dynamics Wizards, we pride ourselves on our deep understanding of Microsoft’s licensing costs and product structures. This expertise allows us to identify and implement strategies that can significantly reduce your organization’s expenses without compromising functionality or performance.

One of our key approaches is Licensing Optimization. By conducting a thorough analysis of how different user personas interact with your systems, we can pinpoint and eliminate unnecessary licenses. Where appropriate, we implement a pay-per-app model and strategically rebuild certain Model-Driven Apps (MDAs) or Canvas applications. This tailored approach ensures that you are only paying for the features and capabilities that your organization needs. For a more radical change, we strongly advocate transitioning to Power Apps in favor of Dynamics 365.

We had a client with 80 users on Dynamics 365 for Sales that we have successfully moved to Power Apps.  Prior to that the client was paying $75 per user per month.  Through our comprehensive examination we discovered that many features within the Sales module were not being utilized, and it was easy enough to supplement the ones who were (for example Lead conversion button). We’ve also redesigned some of their “known pains” and finally reached a whole new level of user satisfaction.

By leveraging advanced scripting tools from the XrmToolBox our team was able to recreate their D365 for Sales as a new PowerApps in just matter of days!!  Naturally it has taken us longer to work with local analysts from the client to plan and redesign the new database schema. After putting together the skeletal structure of their CRM we started to decorate and supplement the necessary logic and features, and included all the “nice to have” features which client had on their radar for a while. It has taken us about 2 months to complete the transition and another month to work with their Change-Champions to acquaint with the new (yet very familiar) CRM and for us to migrate their records to set a Go-Live date.

During records migration to the newly made PowerApps we had the chance to “rationalize” much of the data. For example mis-matched phone formats to make them ready to integrate with CTI solutions, or cast other “loose text” fields onto OptionSet fields or other strong-type fields, for example changing Countries from text to lookups, all in all making future CRMs much more friendly to draw meaningful analytics from!

The financial impact of transitioning to PowerApps was clear

Previous Scenario

80 users × $75 × 12 months = $72,000

Current Scenario

80 users × $20 × 12 months = $19,200

A remarkable $52,800 reduction of licensing costs by moving to Dataverse alone!  Essentially their transition plan was paying for itself in under a year, and the client received a much better CRM made by our flagship line of expertise!

Beyond the clear benefits with PowerApps licensing, modernizing your CRMs can enable your users to better stream their duties with fluidity using solutions that are free from unnecessary complexities, unused off-the-shelf features and so on. That’s pretty much our business “angle” here at Dynamics Wizards.  Reducing costs while modernizing sub-optimal CRMs!
