Whenever we transition D365 or SFDC on to PowerApps, one important step we put a lot of thoughts into is the data migration, as we essentially move you from one system of records to the next.  We assess the quality and structure of your source data, and determine how it will map to the target system. This may involve transforming and cleansing the data to ensure it fits the new schema and meets the necessary quality standards.

Our in-house Data Migration Wizard works with SSIS/Kingsway adapters to build a transition-specific package.  We connect to your lower Dev environment as a source and the new PowerApps as a target, until we perfect that package.  As we work on our migration package, we address the following elements:

• Rationalize/standardize formats of Dates, URLs, Phones/Emails, Zip/Postal etc
• Annotations/Attachments/Emails records that may require special care
• Cast certain “free text” fields to picklists, numbers or other “formatted” fields
• If moving from a non-Microsoft environment we would export your users to Microsoft Entra ID
• Provide a “delta” plan in case there are differences or gaps between Go-Live and other factors

As client evaluates their data in the target environment for accuracy and integrity, they would pick a Go-Live date and we would execute the final data migration “run”.  Once the migration is completed and the system is cleared users may sign in to the new URL and continue their work seamlessly within PowerApps.
